TAKE NOTICE

Recent change in our fishing regulations

To become effective August 1, 2009

Governor Charlie Crist recently signed a bill (CS/SB 1742) into law that abolishes the resident shoreline exemption for Florida anglers.  Previously, any resident of Florida fishing from shore or a bridge could do so without a Florida Saltwater Fishing License.  But now, beginning August 1, 2009, a $7.50 shoreline fishing license will be required.  Those under age 16 or over 65 will remain exempt.  There were also changes to snook and lobster stamp fees.  The snook stamp fee will increase from $2 to $10, and lobster stamps will now be $5, also up from $2.  this marks the first fee increase for these stamps since 1989.

Proceeds from the new license and fee increases will go to the Marine Resources Conservation Trust Fund.
